Demand for products from the coast inspired mariners to persist in their long voyages. Goods came from Africa, India, and Mesopotamia. India and Southeast Asia shipped spices and manufactured goods. Because of the many countries and cultures, children born during this time were brought up bilingually and bi-culturally which helped the spread of cultures and languages to the other regions.
